ASIAN LUNAR NEW YEAR CELEBRATION
Saturday February 13, 2010
This year we were blessed to have two Vietnamese Priests, Fr. Vincent Bui, S.S. and Fr. Nam Kim, S.S. and the Asian Seminarians of different ethnic groups from St. Patrick's Seminary come and celebrate the Lunar New Year with us.
The occasion was truly a joyful event that brought much joy and many blessings to all of us, especially to our Asian Sisters in the community. It was a multicultural event that gave us a taste of the variety of delicious traditional Vietnamese foods and a sharing of different cultural values, traditions and beliefs that give us an understanding and appreciation for each other, a factor that is essential to help us grow in community life.
We're grateful to Ms. Nancy Cuc Vu, an aunt of one of the seminarians and owner of the Thanh Huong Sandwiches in San Jose, for her generosity and kindness in providing a splendid meal!
Especially in this Year for Priests, we give thanks to God for the joyful and faithful witness of our Priests and fellow religious Brothers in Christ.
May our Blessed Mother wrap her mantle around our priests and through her maternal protection and intercession, strengthen them in their ministry as Shepherds of souls. May their Patron Saint John Vianney aid the whole church to experience the priesthood as the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to grow in deeper appreciation of the gift of the sacred priesthood, which is a masterpiece of Christ's divine love, wisdom and power.
Lastly, may our Lord also shepherd in a special way our beloved Seminarians whose vocation is to serve us as priests in the future.
